Who loves the holidays more than kids? They don’t worry about getting all their shopping done, increased travel traffic or how to cook a Christmas bird or Hannukah latkes. They just want to have fun! The holidays are a time of mystery and wonder and Chicago is full of opportunities to make the kids smile.
Navy Pier Winter WonderFest brings 24 rides and attractions set in 170,000 square feet with 500 trees decorated with 25,000 ornaments. Indoor ice skating, a 50-foot high indoor Ferris wheel and a 40-foot Cliff Hanger await. Meet Santa then get some hot chocolate and find more fun.
Have Breakfast With Santa! But do it up at Soldier Field when, after your breakfast feast, you’ll get to talk to Santa, decorate holiday cookies, enter a handmade ornament contest and then decorate the stadium’s holiday tree. And be sure to bring toys for needy kids for the Walter and Connie Payton Foundation Toy Drive. That’s the true spirit of the holidays.
Light the candles and spin the dreidel at the Botanic Garden Hanukkah Concert. Head up to Northbrook on Dec. 6 to enjoy a concert by the Maxwell Street Klezmer Band and then marvel at the Wonderland Express.
Avoid the Downtown crowds and head out to Rosemont for Frozemont at MB Financial Park. This outdoor winter fun fest has ice skating, hockey games and tubing on a two-story hill (from December 11th to January 31st).
