OCTOBER 2019 — From soup cans to celebrity portraits, electric chairs to album covers, the images of Andy Warhol are among the most recognized and celebrated the world over. This season, our neighbors at the Art Institute of Chicago bring Andy Warhol: From A to B and Back Again to life from October 20, 2019 – January 26, 2020. To celebrate, we’re hosting a series of programs to incite conversation and encourage creativity around Warhol’s work and its lasting impact.

- Field Trip: Warhol Polaroid Archive at the Museum of Contemporary Photography & Reception at Cindy’s

Take a Field Trip with us to The Museum of Contemporary Photography (MoCP) to view Polaroids taken by Andy Warhol, with a discussion on Warhol’s approaches to photography, viewing some of the 160 works by Warhol in the MoCP’s permanent collection. Then, walk back to Cindy’s atop our hotel and view an original Warhol portrait of Cindy Pritzker, the restaurant’s namesake, while enjoying our limited release Warhol-inspired cocktail, “The Story of Moondog.”

Take a Field Trip with us to All Star Press where you’ll spend the afternoon stepping beyond the final product. See live screen printing in action, learn about the creative and technical aspects of the process and how they relate to Warhol, then try your hand at printing a Pop Art poster designed just for this class (a $45 value) that you’ll take home after. Warhol produced hundreds of films during his career, and we’re bringing a selection to the big screen — a sight hard to come by in Chicago. Obtained in partnership with the Museum of Modern Art, Warhol’s iconic captures in 16mm will be screened one after another.

Throughout the month of November, Cherry Circle Room invites guests to drink in the Everyday Warhol. Inspired by his love of American whiskey and Coca-Cola, this spirit-forward cocktail is an ode to his artful play on ubiquitous American staples and everyday objects.

Month of November
Throughout his career, Andy Warhol crafted clever album covers for some 60 records over the span of 40 years. To honor this sought-after skill, and with one of his original portraits hanging in above the fireplace, Cindy’s will offer a rotating cocktail inspired by a different Warhol album cover each month of the Andy Warhol: From A to B and Back Again exhibit. First up is “The Story of Moondog,” available throughout the month of November.
