Take to the Skies!

The 2016 Air & Water Show will thrill

The Chicago Air and Water Show, one of the most thrilling weekends in the city, will take flight (and sail) Aug. 20 and 21. The show, now in its 58th season, centers around North Avenue Beach and is free to watch. Crowds will line the lakefront so if you want a spot, get there early and secure your place. Bring chairs, blankets, picnics and whatever else you’ll want for the day. It’s a great family event, so bring the kids!

The headliners this year include the U.S. Air Force Thunderbirds, U.S. Army Parachute Team Golden Knights and the U.S. Navy Parachute Team Leap Frogs. Many other planes, pilots and boats will delight over the two days.

If you don’t want to hit the lakefront with the crowds, there are plenty of other places to watch the action. People in high rises often host parties, but if you can’t manage an invite, book a table at Cindy’s on the roof of the CAA, The J. Parker in Lincoln Park, The Signature Room or the 360 Observation Deck at the John Hancock Tower, GreenRiver, SkyDeck Chicago at Willis Tower, or Oak Street Beach Café and Caffe Oliva at Ohio Street Beach. Don’t wait long to book as spots at all of these places fill up fast!
