State Street That Great Street

Photos of State Street from throughout the ages

State Street, it really is a great street. For many years, State Street was Chicago’s most fashionable shopping thoroughfare with iconic stores like Marshall Field’s and Carson Pirie Scott & Co., theaters like Chicago Theatre, nearby restaurants and hotels like the Berghoff and Palmer House and more.

These days, State Street has come back into fashion, especially with the opening of the Block 37 shopping mall, which houses numerous floors of shopping, Latinicity food court, AMC movies and other great reasons to hit it.
