NOVEMBER 2017 – Whether you’re visiting Chicago for Thanksgiving or just don’t feel like cooking (and frankly, it is a huge undertaking to perfectly cook that bird!), why not spend your holiday at the Chicago Athletic Association hotel? We have a few great options for you, your whole family and friends — and that includes pie!
Cindy’s: Join us in the rooftop restaurant of the hotel for an all-day feast! While we don’t advocate eating all day (how fun would that be?!), Cindy’s will be open from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. (last seating at 6 p.m.). Enjoy a family-style meal with a host of dishes like roasted shaved turkey breast and braised leg and thigh, all accompanied by cranberry aigre doux; cast-iron cornbread apple sage stuffing; whipped potato; and glazed haricot vert. Cost for this family-style dinner is $60 for platters serving 1-2 people and $120 for a serving for 3-4 people. You can opt for an a la carte meal with a variety of items including shaved turkey Waldorf tartine ($16) with celery, apple and golden raisin on seeded rye; turkey pozole ($18), turkey leg with white beans, salsa verde, avocado, cabbage, radish and cilantro; or trout meuniere almondine ($34) with haricot vert and whipped potato. A number of desserts, including traditional pumpkin pie and pumpkin chocolate chip whoopie pie will add a sweet finish to your festive meal. Cindy’s Pie in the Sky: Who doesn’t love a pie pop-up shop? Our executive pastry chef, Jove Hubbard, is a huge pie fan and gets excited to share his pies every Thanksgiving. Come to his pop-up in Cindy’s Nov. 21 and 22 to pick up traditional pumpkin and maple crème fraiche pies (both $20), carrot cake ($20) or individual-sized pumpkin chocolate chip whoopie pies ($8).
Cherry Circle Room: Join us at the James Beard Award-winning Cherry Circle Room off the Game Room on the hotel’s second floor for a prix-fixe feast. Each family-style meal, which costs $80 a person, will include a choice of cheddar cheese soup or endive salad; turkey roulade and turkey leg confit; green beans; garlic mashed potatoes and even more delicious dishes. Each table will get a tasting of seasonal pies and can also opt for wine and beer pairings in addition to choosing from a list of expertly crafted cocktails from our award-winning mixologist, Paul McGee. Seatings will be open between 1 p.m. and 8 p.m. and you can make reservations directly through OpenTable.
