It’s time to once again ask the time-honored question: Manhattan or New England? Yes, we’re talking chowder. Chowdah! Clearly the right answer is New England, but we won’t judge if you prefer the tomato-based version. That said, now is your chance to explore new interpretations of chowder at the sixth annual Chowdah Fest.
On March 7, 16 chefs — including Carlos Gaytan (Mexique), the Mazza Brothers (New England Seafood Co.), Cory Morris (Rural Society) and Marita Tantivirasut (Enso Sushi) — compete for the honor of being named top chowder. You’ll get traditional versions and also creative interpretations and you’ll get to weigh in for the people’s choice award. Judges Doug Sohn (Hot Doug’s), Ji Suk Yi (Windy City Live) and chef Rick Tramonto (Tru, Restaurant R’evolution) have the lucky job of tasting all the chowder to select the best.
The fun event happens on board the ship at the Columbia Yacht Club (at Randolph and Lake Shore Drive) and tickets cost $50. Can you say chow-dah?!
