Original Art Hangs in the Chicago Athletic Hotel’s Lobby

CAA's lobby library art collection amazes

Want to see fantastic art, but you’re feeling too lazy to leave the hotel? We don’t blame you; we quite like being inside the building, too. All you need to do is wander down to the library in the Drawing Room and inspect the wall just to the right of the grand fireplace. There, you’ll find more than a dozen framed paintings from contributing artists like Joseph Noderer, Andreas Fischer, Brittney Leanne Williams and Chuck Meyers. Some of the pieces are modern, a few are portraits of ancient-looking figures, while others derive inspiration from Chicago, like Meyers’ Wabash Shadow Commission, which clearly shows the shadows being thrown from the curve in the ‘L’ tracks along Wabash Avenue in the Loop. Catch a glimpse of the paintings above, but swing by the the lobby to get a closer, first-hand look in person.
