Live Music Lineup for July!

Ready to rock out? Here's who is playing in Chicago this July.

You may hit the Grateful Dead’s 50th anniversary shows, check out Pitchfork or fly in for Lolla, but there’s plenty of other music options happening all over Chicago this July. Some of our top picks:

  • The Grateful Dead’s 50th Anniversary Fare Thee Well shows are the hottest ticket in town. July 3-5 at Soldier Field
  • Weezer will dork out and rock out at the Petrillo Band Shell in Grant Park during Taste of Chicago July 8.
  • Get soulful with diva Erykah Badu who lands at the Petrillo Band Shell July 9. Hopefully she’ll have her massive afro wig in tow.
  • Known for announcing and then cancelling shows, hopefully mope-rocker Morrissey will keep his date at the Civic Opera House July 9.
  • While hipsters get ready for Pitchfork, you can turn up the heat at RuidoFest, Chicago’s Latin alt music fest with bands like Zoé, Ozomatli and Café Tacuba, taking place July 10-12 in Addams/Medill Park in the Near West Side.
  • Does Chicago need another dance music-driven fest? Apparently so. Mamby on the Beach brings the likes of Empire of the Sun, Passion Pit, Cut Copy and James Murphy to Oakwood Beach (near 41st) July 11-12.
  • Austin’s Spoon make a hugely anticipated return to Chicago to play Taste of Chicago in Grant Park on July 11.
  • Feel the love from two of hip-hop’s biggest names as Raekwon and Ghostface Killah hit House of Blues July 14.
  • Get a little weird and dance with Panda Bear on the eve of Pitchfork at Thalia Hall, one of the city’s best new venues, July 16.
  • Get loud and a little political with alt-rockers and Chicago natives Rise Against at FirstMerit Bank Pavilion on July 17.
  • She beat down Apple and now Taylor Swift will delight a stadium full of screaming girls at the Soldier Field July 18-19.
  • Let a little James Brown into your soul as Charles Bradley & His Extraordinaires land at Subterranean July 23.
  • Sing along with the beautiful folk stylings of Laura Marling at Lincoln Hall July 29.
