In Wicker Park

Let’s Go Shopping…

Sure you can hit Michigan Avenue or Oak Street for upscale shopping, much of which you can find in any big city, but when you want to dig into some real Chicago shops...

(and a few cooler national spots like Carhartt and Brooklyn Industries), Milwaukee Avenue in Wicker Park south of North Avenue are tops.

Here are a few favorites:

Una Mae’s – This charming shop was a neighborhood pioneer, originally focusing on fairly affordable hand-selected vintage wares. They’ve recently branched out to start adding newer fashions, homewares and more. 1528 N. Milwaukee

US #1 – Seeking gorgeously maintained vintage leather goods (think: boots, vests, bags)? This place is your jam, but bring extra cash; some of the items are on the pricier end. This is a vintage shop, not a resale shop. 1460 N. Milwaukee Ave.

Reckless Records – If you love music, Reckless Records is a can’t miss. Lose yourself for hours pouring over new and used vinyl, CDs, magazines and more.

Eskell – Pop in for the latest pieces from the store’s namesake label or some hot designer duds from New York. 1509 N. Milwaukee

Vintage Underground – It’s all about baubles, bangles and broaches (and antique clocks, vintage cameras and ocean liner memorabilia) and this super chic vintage costume jewelry shop. 1507 N Milwaukee Ave.

Mildblend Supply Co. – when you shop here, you can’t help but look — and feel — cool. With a kick ass denim selection and a Made in the USA policy, Mildblend, in a word, rocks. 1342 N. Milwaukee Ave.

Antique Taco – When you get hungry, thirsty and need a shopping break, pop into this intimate, shabby-chic decorated spot for some adobo-rubbed, tamarind-glazed pork carnitas tacos and supremely fresh margaritas. 1360 N. Milwaukee
