You may want to get in line now because the wait will be epic. Why? Hot Doug’s, the venerable encased meats emporium that closed in October of 2014, will pop up at Publican Quality Meats. The sausage frenzy will begin on Jan. 18 and last just the day — unless Hot Doug’s owner Doug Sohn has a change of heart and decides to reopen, but don’t hold your breath.
The menu hasn’t been revealed, but it will feature six to eight different sausages and Sohn’s famous duck fat fries. When Hot Doug’s was open, it was common to see sausages made with exotic meats like alligator, rabbit, duck, foie gras and lamb blended with different cheeses, spices, herbs and more. Marz Community Brewing will offer up various beers while Lumpen Radio creates the ambiance as they spin records and broadcast across the airwaves from PQM. The restaurant will offer extended hours that day, opening at noon and it’ll be all first come first serve.
