From Christmas displays to theater, the holidays come alive in Chicago


December 2016 – It’s hard not to get into the holiday spirit when so many beautiful decorations are on display all over Chicago, but you can also head indoors to enjoy a variety of celebrations from theater to comedy shows to museum exhibits. The holidays come alive all over the city so whether you want to saunter around neighborhoods like the Gold Coast to see beautiful mansions decked out in all their glory or take in a show, there are so many ways to get into the holiday spirit.

A Charlie Brown Christmas
What it is: Come on, do we really need to tell you what this is?

Christmas Bingo: It’s a Ho-ho-holy Night
What it is: An interactive bingo game/comedy show where audience members answer questions about Christmas by bingo caller Mrs. Mary Margaret O’Brien (played by four different actresses) while playing bingo.

Christmas Around the World
What it is:
A 45-foot-tall tree adorned with 30,000 lights presides over the museum’s rotunda and is accompanied by 50 trees decorated in holiday customs representing countries from around the world.

Matzo Bash 2016
What it is: More than 1,000 people are expected to gather at this Jewish singles soiree to schmooze, nosh and dance at this first night of Hanukkah bash, which also happens to fall on Christmas Eve.
