Hit the Town With AJ Capital Partners’ Ben Weprin

Hip Hotelier Ben Weprin Helped Bring Chicago Athletic Assoication to Life. See His Favorite Spots to Shop, Eat and Play in Chicago

Ben Weprin is a busy guy. When he’s not running his company, AJ Capital Partners, he’s busy chasing down his little kids. But the hip hotelier is responsible for bringing to light some of North America’s chicest spots like Anguilla’s Malliouhana Resort & Spa, Napa’s Calistoga Ranch, Graduate Hotels in various college towns and our very own Chicago Athletic Association. While Weprin can often be seen hobnobbing with the likes of Mayor Rahm Emanuel his list below tells the real story: Ben’s a pretty laid back, approachable guy. Ready to hit the town with Ben Weprin?

Scout— Scout’s owner, Larry Vodak, is one of the best shopkeepers in the city with an amazing eye. He has been influential on many of AJCP’s projects. 5221 N. Clark

Edgewater Antique Mall  — I’ve been to many antique malls across the country, but Edgewater is still my favorite. We’ve found many treasures there that you now see in Chicago Athletic Association and Hotel Lincoln. 6314 N. Broadway

MFK — The first time my wife and I had dinner at MFK, I was totally blown away by the food and atmosphere and we’ve been going back since. Owners Scott and Sari Worsham are total pros and the 30-seat restaurant is intimate and light (especially when you need it in the winter). I love everything about it. 432 W. Diversey

Antique Taco — Although no longer a secret, Antique Taco is a neighborhood gem. The food and space are amazing and it just feels like home. 1360 N. Milwaukee

CityGrounds Coffee Bar — City Grounds is the ultimate neighborhood coffee spot where everyone knows your name. 507 W. Dickens

Chicago Pizza and Oven Grinder Co. — Chicago has many choices when it comes to pizza, but Chicago Pizza and Oven Grinder has remained my favorite since I moved here in 2001. 2121 N. Clark

Old Town Ale House  — What’s not to love about Old Town Ale House?!  It’s the best bar to belly-up to and BS. 219 W. North

Favorite Getaway: New Buffalo, Michigan— Chicago summers are amazing, but sometimes it’s nice to just escape. Just about 70 miles from the city, New Buffalo is full of charm and offers a wide range of things to do. It’s our favorite family getaway.
