Take flight at Chicago Kids & Kites Festival

Wind along the lakefront is usually pretty reliable, so come May 7 if you love flying a kite, you’ll want to head to the North Side to Montrose Harbor for the free Chicago Kids and Kites FestivalAll the fun takes place between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. on Cricket Hill, where kids can design and build their own kites (for free, courtesy of Chicago), get their faces painted and then go fly kites. The sky will be an array of colors especially during the Big Kite Candy Drop, when a piñata-like kite will shower the crowd with sweet treats! And yes, various vendors will set up tables and tents selling food and drinks.
