Get Into the Xmas Spirit at Christkindlmarket

Visit Chicago's own German Christmas Village in The Loop

There’s no better way to fully immerse yourself in the Christmas spirit — other than heading to the North Pole and putting together toys with the other elves — than by spending some quality time at the Christkindlmarket. The traditional German Christmas market has once again taken over Daley Plaza to spread holiday cheer to locals and visitors alike.

Open from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. daily (and 9 p.m. Friday and Saturday) through Dec. 24, the traditional German market, which dates back to 1545 in Nuremberg, features vendors selling wooden toys, pewter beer steins, ornaments, chocolates, candies and so much more. The best thing about the market is to get bundled up and head over with a group of friends, get mugs of mulled wine and chow down on German sausages covered with sauerkraut, hot pretzels and crepes. If you’re lucky, you may even see Santa!
