You like wine, but your knowledge only runs so deep. You don’t need to be a sommelier to know enough basics about wine to get you by. You could read blogs and magazines like Wine Enthusiast or you could go to a wine shop, buy a bunch of bottles and take your own notes while you drink. Or you can learn from the professionals.
City Winery (1200 W. Randolph) is holding two different classes in November. Held in the urban winery’s barrel room, the first is on November 11th and will focus on the wines of Burgundy, Jura and the Rhone. During the two-hour session, which costs $60, you’ll learn about history, the regions, terroir, aging, flavor profiles and food pairings all while tasting. The main focus is on pinot noir and chardonnay, a.k.a. red and white Burgundy. Get tickets here.
Then on November 18th you’ll get insight on holiday food and wine pairing. The holidays can be stressful enough to make you want to drink, so thankfully this class arms you with some good tools to know what you’re doing. Find out what goes with turkey and other roasts, cranberries, green bean casserole and more. Get tickets here.
