Get Ready to Get a Taste of Chicago

The Grand Dame of Chicago Food Festivals Returns July 8th-12th

If you’re visiting Chicago in early July you’re bound to get hungry. Good thing for you that, in addition to Chicago’s incredible food scene, the annual Taste of Chicago will take place in Grant Park July 8th-July 12th. This five-day, free festival features numerous restaurants from throughout Chicago set up at booths within Grant Park. You can purchase strips of twelve food and drink tickets for $8.50 and enjoy food from dozens of restaurants including Mexican from Dia De Los Tamales and Thai from Star of Siam to pizza from Connie’s and Lou Malnati’s and Italian from Tuscany. A number of food trucks will represent while many additional restaurants will pop-up for a day or two.

Want to get more intimate with some of the city’s top chefs? Check out Celebrity Chef du Jour where each day chefs like Giuseppe Tentori (GT Fish & Oyster), Tanya Baker (Boarding House) and Thomas Lents (Sixteen) will prepare three-course meals in an air-conditioned tent for just $45 a person. You have to buy tickets in advance and these will sell out.

In addition to the food, each day will feature live music at the Petrillo Band Shell in the middle of Grant Park. You can catch free shows by setting up on the lawn or pay (starting at $15 a ticket) for reserved seating to see the likes of Erykah Badu, Weezer and Spoon.
