Last month we had the Chicago Food + Wine Festival and now Chicago Gourmet is back — what did we do to deserve so much good eating and drinking in Chicago? Someone must really like us! Now in its eighth year, Chicago Gourmet, presented by Bon Appetit, has a host of events starting September 25th with the Hamburger Hop on the roof of the Harris Theater Friday night. There, 15 chefs from restaurants like Seven Lions, Acadia, Miller’s Pub, The Signature Room, The Gage, Kuma’s Too and RPM Steak, will compete to win the affections of the judges and the public to be crowned best burger.
The main event takes place Saturday and Sunday on the Great Lawn in Millennium Park where dozens of restaurants from Chicago and across the country will serve up bites of some of their best dishes and wine, spirits and beer will flow freely (well, at a hefty ticket price, but it’s well worth it). You can get a separate ticket for the Grand Cru tasting both Saturday and Sunday from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. to taste some of the best wines in the world while Michelin-starred chefs feed you.
Saturday night, get a ticket to the first-ever Punch Kings, Pigs N’ Tiki event happening on the roof of the Harris Theater. Twelve top Chicago bartenders like Lee Zaremba (Billy Sunday), Will Duncan (Punch House) and Diane Corcoran (Three Dots and a Dash) will compete for the best tiki punch bowl of the night. Meanwhile, you’ll get to feast on plenty of pork pulled together by some of Chicago’s finest chefs.
