EARTH DAY

Earth Day 2016 in Chicago

Love the Earth on April 22

We should all love and respect the Earth and the environment all year, but we can come together on this month for Earth Day to really channel our energy into making a difference. Plenty of Earth Day events and activities are taking place around the city. Below, we highlight just a few that are great for the whole family.

  • Earthfest at Adler Planetarium lets kids learn about the Earth, take part in an astronomy slam, look at the stars and planets through giant telescopes and so much more. Earthfest takes place April 22 to 24. 1300 S. Lake Shore Drive
  • Clean a Park & Green a Neighborhood: The 27th annual Parks & Preserves Cleanup, sponsored by Friends of the Parks, lets volunteers sign up to help clean and green parks and neighborhoods all over the city and Chicagoland area.
  • Party for the Planet at Brookfield Zoo happens on April 24 where people can recycle old electronics like cell phones and laptops, used sneakers, bikes and more; plant trees and more.
