JUNE 2017 – Summer in Chicago is all about drinking al fresco and let’s be honest, if you have the choice between a sidewalk patio or drinks with a view, who doesn’t prefer drinks with a view? If the popularity of Cindy’s terrace, which overlooks Millennium Park, Lake Michigan and the Art Institute, is any indication, we’d say a killer view wins. That terrace, with a sexy fire pit to keep you warm when the wind picks up, is admittedly a bit far from the bar. OK, it’s really not far, but you just don’t want to lose your prime terrace space to refresh your drink. We don’t blame you. Luckily, Cindy’s recently opened a new terrace bar so you don’t have to walk far to quench your thirst.
The new bar offers a well-curated selection of wine, beer, cocktails and special popsicles. If you’re craving pink, we have two lovely rosés, a sparkling — Francois Montand Brut Rosé — and a still — Domaine Lafage 2016 ‘Miraflors.’ White wine lovers can enjoy the white peach and passion fruit-driven 2015 Cloudfall Sauvignon Blanc from Monterey, Calif., and for red, get a glass of the 2014 Catena ‘La Consulta” Malbec from Mendoza with hints of cocoa, leather and ripe dark fruit. Beer drinkers are covered with Stella Artois and Lagunitas IPA.
Want a cocktail? Our Spirit Guide, Nandini Khaund, has two tasty treats: Howl at the Jun (Beefeater gin, ‘jun’ kombucha, grapefruit and sparkling rosé) and the Old Fashioned (Russell’s Reserve 10 year, demerara syrup, Angostura bitters and orange peel to garnish). If you’re looking for something cool and playful, our popsicles will hit the spot. Go alcohol free with the Mango with mango sorbet and Tahitian vanilla or get boozy with the Frozé made with sparkling rosé and vanilla bean.
Keep in mind, these selections may change as the summer progresses and hopefully we’ll add in even more options out there. For now, however, get ready to grab a spot, raise a glass and toast to that incredible view of our favorite city!
