You likely have hopped on and off the CTA countless times, but have you ever taken a moment to think about what Chicago’s rapid transit train lines looked like back when it first opened? The CTA started operating in late 1947 and this footage, from the Chicago Film Archives, shows the train system and its passengers in various locales between 1948 and 1970.
