Art, Music and Food at West Loop Art Fest

Wander the West Loop looking at great art

The West Loop has become known as one of Chicago’s hottest destinations for food, what with places like Girl & the Goat, Publican, Momotaro and Leña Brava all gaining national prominence for their unique food and drink offerings. But before all the restaurants started opening within the last decade, the area was home to many artists and became one of the hottest gallery districts in the city.

Now, between Sept. 17 and 18, the West Loop Art Fest will bring together artists of all persuasions to showcase their wares. The festival takes place along Washington Blvd. between Halsted and Aberdeen and guests will find paintings, glass works, ceramics, photography and jewelry. Bands like Trippin Billies and 16 Candles will play on the East Stage while DJs including Lady D and MAAD Soul will spin all day and into the night on the appropriately named DJ stage. Organizers ask for a suggested donation of $10, so that’s on you.
