Rock Out in April

Some hot bands roll through town in April

Spring is here at that means more great bands rolling through town. Not that you wouldn’t have gone out all winter to hear your favorite music, but with warmer temps come more tours and we couldn’t be more psyched for who is pulling into Chicago this month. Are you ready to rock (and rap and folk and dance) out as you gear up for the forthcoming summer festival circuit? Yeah, us too. So let’s go.

  • Pink Floyd lovers rejoice: guitarist David Gilmour hits the United Center for two shows April 4 and 8 and one, much more intimate gathering, at the Auditorium Theatre April 6.
  • Pusha T shows us why he ran Kanye’s label with his own material, finally making its way out. At the Vic Theatre April 5.
  • Two rock gods on stage together? That’s exactly what happens when Iggy Pop and Josh Homme land at Chicago Theatre April 6.
  • Fan of ’60s psych rock and early ’70s AM gold? Check out Quilt at Schubas April 6 for a turn at nostalgia with a modern bent.
  • Savages turn up the amps April 7 at Metro.
  • Chance the Rapper is one of the best hip-hop artists to come out of Chicago (or anywhere, for that matter) in a long time. He’s at Chicago Theater April 8.
  • Return to early ’90s Chicago alt rock when Smashing Pumpkins and Liz Phair hit the Civic Opera House April 14.
  • Bitch, you better have Rihanna’s money or you won’t get to see her April 15 at the United Center.
  • Santigold is back and she’s bringing music from her new album, 99¢, to Concord Music Hall April 17.
  • Love folk and bluegrass? Then you need to see the Avett Brothers at the Chicago Theater April 21-23.
  • Are you a Belieber? Then get yourself to the Allstate Arena when Bieber hits town April 22.
  • Courtney Barnett brings her raw indie rock to the Riviera Theater April 28.
  • Get up and get on down when former James Brown impersonator Charles Bradley hits Thalia Hall April 28.
