Go Cubs Go!

Chicago Cubs home opener is April 10

Unless you were living under a rock for the last six months, you should know that the Chicago Cubs won the World Series — the first time in 108 years! Needless to say, the city — and most of the country — was caught up in the excitement and energy that pulsated around Wrigleyville for weeks. Now that baseball season is back upon us, we’re ready to see if the Cubbies can make it two in a row. With a winning lineup including Anthony Rizzo, Jake Arrieta, Kris Bryant, Jon Lester, Kyle Schwarber, Jason Heyward and Javier Baez, the boys in Cubbie blue have the power and talent to make it happen.

While MLB opening day is April 3 (the Cubs actually play rival St. Louis in a night game on April 2), the team will be on the road for their first six games. But expect when April 10 rolls around and the Cubs welcome the Dodgers, who they eliminated in the playoffs to advance to the World Series, the madness will be palpable all over the North Side (maybe even some Southsiders will show some excitement!).

The Cubs will wear special gold-adorned uniforms for the home opener, when they’ll reveal their championship banner, and again on April 12, when the team will be presented with their World Series championship rings during a ring ceremony at Wrigley Field. If you don’t have tickets by now, you’ll likely be watching with the rest of us from a TV at home or at a bar — or at the newly opened Park at Wrigley, just outside the Friendly Confines. In any scenario, be sure you’re wearing Cubbie blue to show your support for the 2016 World Series champs!
