FEBRUARY 2017 – If you’ve stepped inside the grand Drawing Room lobby at the Chicago Athletic Association hotel — or even have just seen beautiful photos of the space — you understand when we say this is one of the most romantic spaces in the city. And not even just the Drawing Room, but the entire hotel. This classic building, which first opened in 1893, has wonderful design elements, hidden nooks, engaging stone fireplaces, sexy seating and so much more that make it the perfect escape for a romantic rendezvous, whether with your significant other, a group of friends or someone you maybe just met.

With that in mind, we have a number of events taking place on property surrounding Valentine’s Day. We believe you can’t limit love to just one day so we’re spreading the love out over multiple days in numerous ways all over the hotel. Are you ready to accept Cupid’s arrow? See what we have going on.

Skate Your Way to Love
Roll your way into someone’s heart at our second skate night installment, EAT, SKATE, LOVE. On Feb. 10 and 11, we’ll transform Stagg Court into a vintage roller rink filled with classic love jams, tasty snacks and, of course, a slew of drinks to give you a little extra liquid courage. Bring your own skates (how cool are you if you actually rock your own?) or rent a pair for $5 (limited supply; first come first served; no children’s sizes). So whether you’re a single, double or thrupple, all groups are welcome. Grab your tickets (18 and over; $20) now because this will fill up, fast!

Get in the Mood at Cindy’s
What’s sexier than having some Champagne out on a terrace, by a fire pit overlooking one of the best views in Chicago with someone you’re really into? Starting Feb. 11 and running through Feb. 14, afternoons at Cindy’s will take on a French Revolution-meets-Baroque-meets-Rococo vibe as executive pastry chef Jove Hubbard pops up Cindy’s Borococoa Café. From 12 p.m. to 6 p.m. those days guests can enjoy decadent pastry service (to eat there or take away) — think Coffee & Cognac Religuese, Raspberry Chocolate Noisette Macaron, and Lemon Madeleines —while partaking in boozy tea service at renaissance writing stations outfitted with ink wells and quills to pen love letters the way they were meant to be written.

Also, reserve your spot now for a wonderful Valentine’s Day four-course prix-fixe dinner for two prepared by chef de cuisine Keith Potter. The dinner begins with shared burrata adorned with strawberry sofrito and black pepper tuille. Next up is a fabulously decadent seared foie gras dressed with berries, steel cut oats and elderflower syrup. You’ll then enjoy prime beef tenderloin with escargot barigoule, pommes duchess and creamed leeks before diving into the meal’s conclusion: strawberry rose éclair with roasted white chocolate and strawberry rose sorbet. Dinner runs $150 per couple and you can pair wine or cocktails dreamed up by Cindy’s spirit guide Nandini Khaund. Reserve now by calling 312.792.3502, emailing cindysinfo@chicagoathletichotel.com or visiting cindysrooftop.com.

Hide Away at Cherry Circle Room
If a tucked-away rendezvous is more your style, join chef Pete Coenen at Cherry Circle Room for a special a la carte menu that kicks off Feb. 11 and runs through Valentine’s Day. Reserve your spot now through OpenTable to enjoy an array of beautiful dishes like sea scallops with rose and citrus; roasted monkfish with coffee and carrots; and chocolate mousse with cherry and almond for dessert. Beverage director Paul McGee has crafted a special Rose Petal cocktail, comprising gin, raspberry, lemon and egg white, which will be available all weekend for $12.

Crew Love at Game Room
If you don’t have a special someone to spend Valentine’s Day with, find them at Crew Love at the Game Room on Feb. 11. The party kicks off at 9 p.m. with a DJ spinning tunes for a dance party taking over the bocce court. Order up a large format cocktail made with Jamaican rum, California brandy, ruby port, Curacao, black tea and lemon for four to six people to enjoy ($45) or grab a single serving ($12) for yourself before indulging in a sharable brownie sundae and boozy root beer float shots. No RSVP necessary — just come down and get the party started until 1 a.m.

Boozy Elegance at Milk Room
If your idea of sexy starts with bubbly and bivalves, then this is right up your alley. Reserve two spots for Valentine’s Day at the intimate eight-seat Milk Room where you’ll be welcomed with glasses of Charles Krug Brut Reserve Champagne and oysters with mignonette. Once you’ve settled into that, you’ll each get to choose two cocktails from a special menu beverage director Paul McGee created specially for Valentine’s Day using vintage and rare spirits including the Right Hand Cocktail (Plantation Reunion Island 15-year Ruby Port Cask Finished Rum, Blackadder 17-year Guadeloupe Rum, Dolin Rouge Sweet Vermouth, 1970s Campari and chocolate) and the Saratoga (Pierre Ferrand Ebel Cognac, 1950s Stock Maraschino, pineapple gomme and topped with Charles Krug Brut Reserve Champagne). You’ll also enjoy a special charcuterie board while you sip and your time at Milk Room will end with a special nightcap made with Valrhona hot chocolate infused with 1970s Fernet Branca.

A True Evening of Extravagance
Can you put a price on love? Well, sometimes you can and for that reason we have the most over-the-top delicious offer. One lucky couple can book an “Evening of Extravagance” at the Chicago Athletic Association hotel on Valentine’s Day where you’ll enjoy a stay in the Founders Suite, the property’s most luxurious space. A private dinner for two will take place in the jaw-dropping White City Ballroom where a string quartet will create the soundtrack for the night while your own personal photographer snaps away both posed and candid shots to help capture your memories. Next, you’ll get private ballroom dancing lessons in the Madison Ballroom before heading up to Cindy’s for intimate, private cocktails next to the fire pit overlooking Millennium Park and Lake Michigan. Executive pastry chef Jove Hubbard will then handcraft sweets and chocolates for you to enjoy with your bottle of Champagne back in the Founders Suite. What comes next is up to you, but hopefully you’ll build up an appetite because the next morning you’ll enjoy breakfast in bed. The experience can be yours by calling the hotel’s sales team at 312-792-3552.
