The world was shocked when news broke earlier this year that prolific performer and maverick David Bowie had passed after a battle with cancer. Bowie’s impact on the larger entertainment world is unprecedented and photographer Steve Schapiro captured him during one period in his life. Schapiro’s new hardcover book, Bowie, shares 96 pages of Bowie during 1974 shortly after the two met and became friends. Now Schapiro will sign copies during a free event (you’ll have to buy the book) at the Museum of Contemporary Art on July 16 from 2-3 p.m. on the MCA’s second floor. You’ll want to get there early as the line will no doubt be long.
